Seattle University’s world-class College of Nursing offers a flexible certificate program to advance the scope of practice for working professional Nurse Practitioners with a strong passion for intensive care work. Upon receiving your certificate, you will be prepared to advance your practice in acute care environments including inpatient, emergency and critical care units. Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (AG-ACNP) make valuable contributions in urban centers as well as rural and resource-limited communities.
Completion of the 18-month post-graduate certificate program enables primary care family nurse practitioners and adult-geriatric nurse practitioners to expand their current knowledge, increase their scope of practice and provide care to adults experiencing acute and unstable conditions.
Our committed and passionate faculty deliver integrated and multi-disciplinary rigorous training to drive you on your mission to be there, where and when others need you the most.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and American Association of Critical Care Nurses (ACCN) offer the AG-ACNP certification exam. Graduates of the DNP or Post-Graduate Certificate in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care are eligible to sit for both examinations.
The AG-ACNP certificate program of study* requires six consecutive quarters of full-time study and completion of 41 credit hours. Students interested in completing the AG-ACNP certificate as part of the DNP program should meet with a DNP advisor to create an individual program of study.
