When is Graduation?

Please refer to the academic calendar to determine your official commencement date. Seattle University commencement is for the entire campus and all schools.

Where do I get my Regalia (Cap, Gown, Hood)?

Online ordering opens early January and closes mid March. You can also pick up and pay for your regalia in person at the Grad Student Fair held in March. Regalia ordering and prices and more information about the Grad Student Fair are located here: seattleu.edu/commencement/academic-attire

What is the Hooding & Blessing of the Hands Ceremony?

The Hooding & Blessing of the Hands Ceremony is a College of Nursing tradition held to celebrate the DNP graduating class. A student speaker from the graduating class is selected to address the audience and the Graduate Student Excellence Award is presented. Like a commencement ceremony, graduates walk across the stage to be hooded. You can also choose to have your hands blessed by Father Sundborg. Student Track Representatives work closely with the Graduate Program Coordinator to plan this event in order to reflect each cohort's personality. The event is well attended by nursing faculty and you are encouraged to invite close family and friends to attend both the ceremony and the reception with light refreshments following.
