Individuals may apply for the Diagnostic Ultrasound, Bachelor of Science (BS) degree major as incoming first-year students or as junior-level transfer students from other colleges. Individuals who have already earned a bachelor's degree may apply for the Diagnostic Ultrasound Post-Baccalaureate degree or Post-Baccalaureate Certificate.
Please note that internal transfers (students who have already started at SU) will be admitted on a space-available basis due to the constraints with clinical placements and the need to limit the size of each cohort.
All application materials must be received by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Both applications request a list of coursework in progress, a ranking of Vascular, General or Cardiac tracks and essays describing your interest in Diagnostic Ultrasound and Seattle University.
All students have the opportunity to rank their interest in a vascular, general or cardiac sonography track focus. Track placements will be determined based on available clinical spots.
Applicants are encouraged to participate in volunteer or paid health care-related activities that promote the development of communication and interpersonal skills and provide an opportunity to evaluate their own suitability to work with patients and the public. All majors are required to meet with program faculty prior to progressing to the third year.
All Math coursework must be completed within 10 years of application and all Science coursework must be completed within 5 years of application. Students admitted into the DIUS major in AY 2022-23 and thereafter must maintain a cumulative 2.75 GPA and a 3.0 GPA in pre-requisites and major courses.
Visit the Transfer Equivalency Guide on the Transfer Tools site for more information on how your credits may transfer to SU. Some courses not listed on the Transfer Equivalency Guide may still transfer to SU.
