Dear Faculty,
As faculty you empower your students to lead for a just and humane world through your teaching, through your mentoring of students and by encouraging your students to work for justice in Seattle and around the world. With one of the most important elections of our lifetimes only a few short weeks away, today I write to ask that you consider empowering your students in one additional very important way.
During your classes this week, please consider speaking with your students about their plan to vote. This week is National Voter Education Week and this website provides great information about registering to vote, understanding the option to vote by mail, having a plan to vote, filling out a ballot and encouraging others to vote. By sharing this information you support the SGSU and its effort to register and mobilize Seattle U students to vote.
Please remember that, as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) institution, we cannot endorse or campaign against any specific candidate. But we can encourage our students to vote. In doing so, we uphold our commitment to our students, to their futures and to the future of our nation.
Thanks for considering this request.
