Dear Faculty and Staff,
As we gather for a new academic term and a new decade, I invite you to a special event where we will launch a new era in the history of our university. At 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, in Pigott Auditorium we will hold a convocation to formally embark upon the 2020-2025 Seattle University Strategic Directions, A Jesuit University of Distinction for a Time of Change, which have recently been approved by our Board of Trustees.
Universities hold convocations to mark their most significant moments and this is such a moment for Seattle University. This event will include an overview of our strategic directions for the next five years, perspectives from members of the Seattle University community and a celebration of our shared mission and aspirations.
Following extensive and unprecedented engagement by the campus community, we have developed together a vision and goals that represent in a clear and compelling manner what our university wants and is committed to become—for the good of our students and university. They include a number of actions we will pursue in order to deepen our commitment to our students and position us as a leading and innovative Jesuit institution in one of the most dynamic cities in the world. The coming years will be among the most pivotal in the life of Seattle University and our strategic directions will guide us through challenges while keeping us focused on the great opportunities before us.
I would like to thank everyone who helped shape the vision, goals and actions for our next five years, especially the members of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee (listed below). I look forward to celebrating this new era and hope to see you at the convocation. Thank you for all you do for Seattle University.
Sincerely,
Stephen V. Sundborg, S.J.
