This spring will mark the 15th anniversary of Vera Whole Health winning the Albers School of Business Harriet Stephenson Business Plan Competition. As founder and CEO of Vera Whole Health—now a $400 million company revolutionizing health care—Ryan Schmid, ’07 MBA, reflects on his journey as an entrepreneur and how Seattle University and its Jesuit and Catholic-based teaching principles contributed to making his vision a thriving reality.
For Per Anderson, ’21, what began as an internship with Sellen Construction transitioned into a career post-graduation. Many of the skills he learned from his Seattle University coursework are valuable in his day-to-day work, from communications to problem solving. “Being able to communicate well is the biggest thing that I got from Seattle University and I’m very thankful. Seeing stuff being installed … really helped me understand how to design. It made me a better student by giving me more background, so it was easier to pick up concepts in school.”

Brian Le ’19, Computer Science, is working as a product manager at Expedia after graduating from SU. Le is originally from Portland, Ore., and said Seattle U’s computer science program prepared him for landing a job in the Tech Industry upon graduation.
