Christine Cole, Ph.D.

Frequently Taught Classes

Dr. Cole enjoys teaching a variety of courses. Recently, she has taught UCOR 1200: Quantitative Reasoning, MATH 1010: College Algebra for Business, MATH 1336: Calculus II, and MATH 2330: Multivariable Calculus. 

Research Interests

Within the broad field of mathematical biology, Dr. Cole’s research interests lie in modeling cellular level biophysical phenomena. Her dissertation focused on mathematical models for molecular motors. The mathematical methods used in this field are drawn from a broad range of areas, including partial differential equations, stochastic processes, and dynamical systems.

Biography

Dr. Cole received her B.A. in Mathematics and Physics from Macalester College in 2002. She earned a M.S. (2004) and Ph.D. (2011) in Applied Mathematics from the University of Washington. She served as a visiting assistant professor of Mathematics at Pacific Lutheran University for one semester before joining the Seattle University faculty in the fall of 2013.
