Students in Seattle University’s bioinformatics project course continue to use their skills to design and build novel, interactive simulations. These models help individuals grasp challenging concepts in the field of genetics.

For example, past students designed simulations that model:

• Evolution in the face of climate change
• Regulation of various gene expressions
• Evolution of molecular variants

Several of the undergraduate creators (Richard Charczensko and Madeline McMahon) have submitted manuscripts about their simulations to peer reviewed journals. This work was also presented at the University of Washington.

These simulations are freely available to anyone with an internet connection and a desire to learn. These models can be found at Super Genetics.
