Teaching Interests:
  • Databases and Data Mining
  • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
  • Data-Driven Programming, Data Science
Research Interests:

My research interests span the areas of spatial and spatiotemporal databases and data mining, applied computational geometry and a number of related areas. Within these areas, my work revolves around approximation, optimization, performance, estimation, and prediction problems in applications of GIS and public health.

The overall theme of my research program is to develop computational models and algorithms by the empirical application-driven approach: my research addresses relevant applications and their needs related to processing and analysis of spatiotemporal data, and develops prototypes that can be used by others, I tackle research problems through the innovative use of statistical methods and computational geometry algorithms, and validate the correctness through theoretical proofs and empirical experiments, and design and implement system evaluation.
