Faculty and students from the Math Department have been involved with KiloWatts for Humanity in a variety of roles, both locally and abroad, including business planning, survey design and analysis, electrical data analytics, and project implementation & installation. Students and faculty are pictured above as part of the Zambia team.
KiloWatts for Humanity's solar-powered systems have produced over 9,500 kilowatt hours of life-improving electricity for underserved, at-risk communities. With projects in Zambia, Kenya, and the Phillipines, they have transformed lives by offering the safety and dignity of using electric lights instead of toxic kerosene, by creating local jobs, and by providing services such as refrigeration and access to information. Volunteers offer mentorship and resources to empower less economically developed communities for lasting change.
