The Math Department hosts regular Math Colloquiums, Thursdays during Fall and Winter quarters. Presented by guest lecturers, all experts in their fields, these cover a wide range of math-related topics from chance and probability to a statistical evaluation of wildfires to encoding gender identity in the age of AI. Senior Synthesis Talks are given by our Math Majors spring quarter of their senior year. They culminate their math studies by presenting on topics that are of special interest to them or about which they have done in-depth research. S.M.A.R.T. Fridays are a series of informal student-led talks and discussions about current research work being done by math students here at Seattle University. They are generally held once a month. These talks are a great opportunity to find out about the variety of research opportunities in math that are available to students at Seattle U., as well as providing a chance to learn about topics beyond what you might find in the classroom.
