The Office of Sponsored Projects, with support from the Center for Faculty Development, is sponsoring a Faculty Grant Writing Circle for faculty in the humanities and social sciences starting in December 2023 and running through February 2024.
Faculty from all ranks and all career stages within these fields interested in preparing a grant proposal are encouraged to apply.
This writing circle will be limited to four faculty, representing a diverse mixture of disciplines, faculty rank and grant writing experience in order to provide constructive feedback.
Members will meet weekly for 6 weeks to review each other’s grant proposals, hone their writing for an audience of grant reviewers and prepare to apply for external funding.
This initiative will be modeled after the Center for Faculty Development’s Faculty Writing Groups but tailored for the unique artistry of grant writing.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be eligible to receive up to $250 in AY23-24 professional development support.
Please reach out to Sarah Bricknell with any questions.
A circle consists of up to 4 faculty who form an interdisciplinary supportive community. Through the key strategy of consistent writing, the circles provide an encouraging community of accountability and feedback for the specialized task of grant writing.
Faculty Grant Writing Circles can include faculty of all ranks who will meet weekly so that members can read, edit, and critique each other’s grant proposals. Participants will hone their writing for an audience of grant reviewers, as well as motivate each other to work on their grant writing projects, receive constructive feedback from colleagues across disciplines, and prepare to apply for external funding. The success of the circles and individual outcomes depends on the constructive participation of all members.
