These three campus areas are derived from Human Resources classifications.
Staff in Academic Focus areas account for 39% of total staff at Seattle U. This area includes:

Any full-time or regular part-time employee may be elected to the Staff Council if:
All Seattle University staff will get to vote in the Staff Council election.
Staff will be able to vote for candidates in all three campus areas, not just their own.
During the nominations period, the campus community is encouraged to nominate themselves or a colleague to run for a seat on the Staff Council. Nominees will submit a short personal statement and headshot using the nomination form.
The Nominations, Elections, and Bylaws Committee (made up of current Staff Council members who are not running for a seat on the Staff Council) will process nominations, contact individuals nominated by a colleague to determine interest, and confirm with Human Resources each candidates' eligibilities for participation.
After the nominations period closes, the Nominations, Elections, and Bylaws Committee will process all the nominations and finalize the voters' pamphlet which contains the headshots and personal statements for all the candidates within the categories:
The voters' pamphlet will be released and distributed to all staff in a timely manner.
The Staff Council election period will be communicated to all staff. Voting will be done electronically.
The Staff Council Nominations, Elections, and Bylaws Committee will appoint the At-Large seats. The At-Large seats allow for increased diversity on the council and magnify voices of underrepresented groups on campus.
The names of the newly elected/formed Staff Council members will be announced to all staff. New Staff Council members will be invited to join the Staff Council meeting for transitioning onto council.
