Modern Languages Department Receives Grant to Support French Program

The French section of the Modern Languages Department has received a grant from French in Higher Education, a program of the Albertine Foundation and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States, to support its French in France and Africa (FIFAA) Ambassadors Program. 

The initiative, led by Dr. El Hadji Malick Ndiaye, will create a new follow-on program for students returning from studying abroad—an academic framework in which students will conduct activities to improve their language skills and cultural understanding while promoting the French program, building the FIFAA alumni network and helping organize local French community outreach initiatives. This three-year project aims to increase enrollment and retention in SU’s French major and minor.
