Arts & Sciences Faculty Awarded Prestigious Fellowship

Dumbarton Oaks has appointed Assistant Professor of English Carlyn Ferrari a 2023-2024 Mellon Democracy and Landscape Initiative Fellow, in conjunction with the Mellon Foundation.
Affiliated with the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Dumbarton Oaks is one of the few institutions in the world with a program devoted to garden and landscape studies. The Mellon Fellowships are intended to expand significantly the opportunities offered by the institution to study the history and future of landscapes through the lenses of democracy, race, identity and difference.
Dr. Ferrari will spend the year continuing her research on Black women's gardens.
