Assistant Professor of Nursing Named a prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellow

Dr. Kumhee Ro, assistant professor in the College of Nursing, was selected to the 2022-2023 class of Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellow, a highly competitive program in which exceptional mid-career health professionals participate in the policy process at the federal level and use that leadership experience to improve health equity, health care and health policy. The fellowship begins with an intensive three-month orientation conducted by the National Academy of Medicine.

Dr. Ro will devote the entirety of the 2022-23 academic year to the program. During that time, she will reside in Washington, D.C., and work within a Congressional office and in the Executive Branch to develop expertise in the policy process and participate in training in health equity topics, media training, coaching and leadership development. After the Washington, D.C. assignment, the fellows will continue to receive support to sustain their development as health policy leaders. Fellows are expected to use the experiences, leadership skills and relationships gained through the experience to advance health care policy and equity and the national, state and/or local levels.
