Cameo for Albers Professor

If you watch “Three Busy Debras,” you may have recognized one of the characters in a recent episode. Yes, that was Meena Rishi, professor of economics in the Albers School, making a cameo appearance on the show, which was filmed in the Seattle area and dropped April 24.
Described as an absurd comedy, “Three Busy Debras” can be found on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim and HBO Max. In the first episode of season two, the main characters—who share a name and a ridiculously outlandish sense of entitlement—learn there’s a milk shortage in their fictitious town of Lemoncurd. Walking up to the rationing site, the Debras encounter something they’ve never seen before. “Why are you standing in this way, one right after the other?” one of the Debras asks a town resident played by Rishi. Empty milk container in hand, Rishi’s character explains to the incredulous trio the concept of standing in line and waiting one’s turn.
When it comes to acting, this is hardly Rishi’s first rodeo. In 2015, she was nominated for a Gregory Award for her performance in the play “Dance Like a Man.”
Of her latest venture, Rishi says, “It was a zany show and the Debras were hilarious. I enjoyed my experience shooting a TV series with multiple cuts; quiet please; and that's a wrap. Very different from the stage.”
