CEIE Presents - The RoundTable: Discussing Religious Literacy and Global Hunger

Diana Muresan: “Hunger is such a vital part of life, and so being in a place where I have the ability to make these changes, is something that I have been privileged with being able to do.”  

Sofia Sayabalian: “I think that’s super inspiring, Diana. It shows ‘putting others before yourself’. I really hope that younger people are inspired by the people that came before them.”

Diana: “I think there’s also a shift in the younger generation’s--well, we’re also young—I think they’re much more ‘community-focused’ and building up these community networks because we don’t have to think about the ‘international world’ to think about hunger. There’s hunger here in our backyard.” 

Diana Muresan, of the Church World Service, sat down to talk with the CEIE Student Affiliates Prabhjeet Kaur, Sofia Sayabalian and Zachary Dar. Together, they discussed the importance of Muresan’s work, religious literacy and how to not feel overwhelmed when addressing global hunger.

The Religica RoundTable is a place for students, staff, faculty and allies to gather and engage in topics that challenge us today.

Often in webinar format, recent RoundTable topics have included center scholars discussing the latest project on injury and repair in a pandemic age; Seattle University students reflecting upon mental health amid the challenges of a changing global environment; students, staff, faculty and allies discussing spiritual wisdom in an age of isolation; and Gen Z youth talking about how values have a role in helping us to understand the sacred in our lives.
