“The role my faith played in coping with one of the greatest fears in my personal life, [the passing of my father], was invaluable, and it also opened my eyes to the severity of the bullying incident where students were degraded because of their actual or perceived religious identity.”
W. Y. Alice Chan

Y. Alice Chan is co-founder and executive director of the Centre for Civic Religious Literacy. She completed her Ph.D. at McGill University and is the recipient of the American Education Research Association‘s Religion and Education Special Interest Group‘s Dissertation of the Year Award for 2020.

The Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement (CEIE) believes that religious literacy allows us, as a society, to understand one another on a finer measure and that this, in turn, will allow for a greater peace in our world, free from the harshness of religious bullying, violence and terrorism.

Religious Bullying: Perspectives from Canada” is available in CEIE’s Interfaith Observer, a popular online journal for interreligious and intercultural engagement around the world.
