Ciscoe Morris, who served for 23 years as SU’s grounds manager, returned to campus last week. The renowned gardener and TV and radio personality came back for Lead Maintenance Electrician Byron Lynch’s retirement party. Morris’s visit included a tour of campus with some of the Grounds gardeners, starting with the Kubota Garden in front of the Sinegal Building.
During his time at SU, Morris pioneered a number of practices to more sustainably care for the university’s landscapes. Nestled behind Loyola Hall, the James “Ciscoe” Morris Biodiversity Garden demonstrates its namesake’s commitment to fostering biodiversity, habitat for pollinators and birds.
