Farewell for Tim Leary
Posted: May 10, 2022
Dear Faculty and Staff,
As many of you know, Executive Vice President Tim Leary is stepping down in June after 25 years of service to Seattle University. Tim’s impact on Seattle University cannot be overstated. He has played a significant role in enhancing nearly every facet of our university. Among many other contributions, he has been instrumental in strengthening the student experience, leading SU back to Division I athletics, developing new facilities and programs and deepening the university’s connection with our neighborhood and community.
Since I met Tim during the presidential search process, I have been consistently impressed by his deep knowledge of Jesuit higher education and his great affection for Seattle University. During the transition, I have benefited tremendously from his encyclopedic historical knowledge of SU, his personal generosity and his sound judgment. He is the quintessential Redhawk. I will miss working with him, and I wish him the very best as he begins his next chapter. I encourage you to read more about Tim’s impact in The Newsroom.
To celebrate Tim and all he has meant to Seattle University, I invite you to a special farewell reception:
Tuesday, May 31
3:30 to 5 p.m.
Second floor of Sullivan Hall (Law School)
As Tim steps down, we will be making some changes to the university’s structure, and as of July 1, there will be more direct reports to the President. A chart summarizing the new structure, which goes into effect July 1, is available here.
I hope to see you at Tim’s farewell celebration on the 31st and know you join me in thanking him for his tremendous service to Seattle University.
Respectfully,
Eduardo M. Peñalver
President
