Systemic resilience refers to life-giving interconnections, the ability to cope with and overcome adversity and finding meaning in the midst of suffering. Learning to be adaptable with self and others, sharing visions for growth, grappling with ultimate mysteries and communicating well are among the practices associated with cultivating systemic resilience. Current models of systemic resilience are illustrated and enhanced by stories from Catholic thought and culture, especially those of the Mothers of the Disappeared and Gregory Boyle.
In this ICTC Faculty Fellowship Presentation, Dr. Christie Eppler, program director and professor, Couples and Family Therapy, will synthesize the models of systemic resilience with these narratives and propose ways for participants to cultivate their own resilience.
