The Dean of Students today sent the following message to students from Guam who may be impacted by Super Typhoon Mawar, outlining available resources:

Dear Students from Guam:

As we approach the end of the quarter, I write to express Seattle U’s support for those impacted by Super Typhoon Mawar. You are receiving this message because you are registered in Spring Quarter 2023 and your permanent address is listed as being in Guam.

I hope your family and friends in Guam are safe, and our thoughts are with all of those who will soon embark on a long and difficult road to recovery. For students and their families who have been impacted by the typhoon, several support resources are available at Seattle University, including:

Housing, Food, and Transportation Resources

Housing & Residence Life (206-296-6305)

For residential students who may need to remain in campus housing past the end of the quarter or over the summer due to displacement or travel difficulties, please contact the Office of the Dean of Students at deanofstudents@seattleu.edu or reply to this message for assistance making arrangements. Your residence hall Area Coordinator, Assistant Area Coordinator, Resident Ministers, and RAs are great resources for additional support and care throughout the year. Campus emergency housing is also available for students who currently live off-campus who may need temporary housing due to the emergency in Guam. If this would be helpful, please contact me for assistance.

Food Security Resources

Learn about food security programs available to Seattle U students, including the on-campus food pantry, at https://www.seattleu.edu/oma/food-security-initiative/food-pantry/

Transportation & Emergency Funding Resources

Academic Resources & Accommodations

If this emergency is impacting your academic performance as you prepare for finals, please contact me at deanofstudents@seattleu.edu or reply to this message and I will connect you with support resources in your school or college.
