The Negro Passion Play: Script Reading

Posted: April 1, 2022

Wednesday, April 13, 6 p.m.
Stuart T. Rolfe Community Room (Advancement and Alumni Building)

The Office of Multicultural Affairs and Campus Ministry are excited to invite you to come get a first look at "The Negro Passion Play (TNPP)," a new play written by Kathya Alexander and directed by Tyrone Brown (SU alumnus and founder of Moral Mondays at SU).

TNPP re-imagines a traditional Passion Play by setting the biblical story and its characters in the Civil Rights Movement. TNPP is not the story of Jesus, it is the story of a fictionalized Black man named Immanuel. This play is sure to stretch your thinking and understanding of faith, love and justice.

Notes: This is a three-hour-long script reading. Due to the length of the reading, audience members are welcome to enter and exit the space at their leisure. The script contains some adult language and mature themes. The event is capped at 30 audience members. RSVP required through RSVP required through ConnectSU
