The Spiritual Work of Racial Justice Reading and Reflection Group

The Center for Jesuit Education invites you to join a reading and reflection group utilizing The Spiritual Work of Racial Justice: A Month of Meditations with Ignatius of Loyola by Patrick Saint-Jean, S.J. (Anamchara Books, 2021). A group gathered to read and reflect on the first section of the book this past fall and welcomes anyone who would like to join the group to discuss the next portion of the book in winter quarter. Participants will work independently through the author’s writing and journal prompts and will gather with the group to share the fruits of their reflections.

This is a great way to deepen your commitment to racial justice through an engagement with the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. No experience with the Spiritual Exercises required! 

Faculty and staff of all racial and ethnic backgrounds are welcome. We will break out into smaller affinity groups at times within the larger group gatherings. Please include in your RSVP whether you would prefer to be in a smaller group with people who identify as: 1) white; or 2) people of color. 

If you did not participate in fall quarter, please include in your RSVP that you need a book. If you are unable to pick up your book on campus, please include your mailing address so we can ship the book to you. Please read the first quarter of the book (pp. 9-109) before the first session.
