The Religica Theolab at the Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement (CEIE) presents a conversation with Kamran Shezad.

A qualified environmental specialist with practical field and managerial experience in the sustainable development sector, Shezad is director of the Islamic Foundation for Ecology and Environmental Sciences and sustainability lead for the Bahu Trust, a network of 22 mosques around the UK. He is a grassroots environmental activist using a faith-based approach, who has works with a diverse range of faith groups, producing toolkits, practical guides and mobilizing communities for climate action.

Shezad holds an MA in environmental sustainability (strategy & management), has been awarded “Chartered Environmentalist” status by the Society for the Environment and is a full member of the Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment. Shezad is currently serving on the Civil Society & Youth Advisory Council to the Presidency of COP26 and has recently been appointed to the Multi-Faith Advisory Council to the United Nations Interagency Task Force on Religion and Sustainable Development (UN IATF).

Shezad shares that “We’re seeing the inequalities and we’re talking about the inequalities, but we still don’t seem to be doing anything about it.”
