Trent Haynes attends Fort Worth Christian School in Richland Hills, Texas, and has been admitted to our nursing program. He is a skilled violinist, pianist, and singer; founded the Creative Writing Club at his school; and is involved in cross country, theatre, and community service. Trent is unshaken in his identity – disclosing he is a member of the LGBTQ+ community within a conservative school and home and hopes to come to Seattle – a “safe haven and mecca of progressive leadership”. He reflects on his lived experience by stating: “I quickly understood the importance of self-identification and the confidence needed to look inside yourself and accept what you see.”
