JJ Abner (he/him/his) identifies as a Black Baptist man. JJ earned excellent grades in a solid curriculum inside of O'Dea's rigorous Catholic curriculum. He is an outstanding baseball player; prior to his application to the Sullivan Leadership Award, JJ had committed to play collegiate baseball for the Redhawks. His decision to pursue the Sullivan in addition to his excellence on the diamond speaks to the well roundedness of this young man. He is also a Seattle U Legacy. His mother Shana, was a member of one of the first Sullivan cohorts. We believe that JJ maybe the first ever Sullivan Legacy. A team captain of the O'Dea baseball team, leader of the Black Student Union, member of National Honor Society, and a student ambassador-JJ has distinguished himself in seemingly every niche within the O'Dea community. His goal after college are yet to be determined, but he is one of the most directed candidates we have ever had for this award.
