Victoria Vong graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle, WA. As editor for her school’s paper, she ensured articles about racial and social justice appeared in every issue, and as the Building Leadership Team student representative, she helped develop a positive discipline model. Victoria was Student Government Secretary, a 4-year member of the volleyball team, member of the National Honor Society, and Mock Trial Captain. She was a member of the Vietnamese Student Association and Co-Founder and Secretary of the 206 Club, an organization committed to evaluating issues of inequality at her school. In 2014, Victoria helped install laptops in rural Vietnamese schools and taught students how to use applications.

SU Experience

Victoria works at Bailey Gatzert Elementary in Chinatown where she used to work as a tutor in high school. She’s involved with the Catalyst, a social-justice magazine, and the Vietnamese Student Association. She is majoring in Humanities for Leadership and considering a specialization or double-major in Sociology or Public Affairs. She also wants to minor in Environmental Studies and Women and Gender Studies. She finds strength in the communities of compassion within the Sullivan Leadership Program and Seattle University, particularly within groups of women of color at our predominantly-white institution.
