First-year and transfer students who complete an admissions application to Seattle University are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships. These scholarships are renewable for up to four years and are based on the information in the admissions application, not family finances. Merit-based scholarships for first-year students generally range from $13,000 - $30,000 per year, and we guarantee that any amount you receive as an institutional gift will remain constant for all four years you’re eligible at SU.
Scholarship recipients must meet all university requirements for regular admission to the fall, winter, or spring quarter. Students may qualify for additional need-based aid, as determined by the FAFSA. Scholarships awarded at the time of admission are not eligible for adjustments.

The Sperry Goodman Endowed Scholarship was established with a one million dollar gift from the estate of Sperry Goodman in 1999. The scholarship is for College of Science and Engineering incoming first-year students majoring in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics, or an Engineering discipline. Preference is given to students with financial need. A Sperry Goodman scholarship is an award of $5,000 per year.
Students enrolled in the Washington State College Bound Scholarship program may be considered to receive financial aid to cover their full, demonstrated financial need at Seattle University.
Since 2000, Costco has joined forces with Seattle University to create scholarships for highly qualified students who need help filling financial gap to afford college. The College Success Foundation administers this scholarship fund on behalf of Costco Wholesale. No separate application is required; first-year applicants who file a FAFSA will automatically be considered for this full-need award.
A scholarship built to help high-achieving students with demonstrated financial need pursue career opportunities in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. The SUMSS Scholarship is designed to help low-income students support study in the sciences. This scholarship is up to $10,000 per year, renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study.
Merit scholarships are renewable for up to four years (i.e., $12,000 = $48,000 over 4 academic years) for students who maintain satisfactory academic progress, which includes continuous full-time enrollment with the required GPA and completion of the required number of credits annually.
Please note, merit scholarships awarded at the time of admission to undergraduate programs, including 3+3 programs, can only be applied towards undergraduate coursework. Students are not able to apply undergraduate scholarships towards graduate coursework regardless of whether they have completed their initial bachelor’s degree.
