Changes coming soon to Albers and ITS websites

Greetings content editors!
We wanted to alert you to several upcoming changes that may impact your Seattle U websites.
Albers URLs are changing
Albers School of Business and Economics will be changing the URL of their websites from www.seattleu.edu/albers/ to www.seattleu.edu/business/ in order to increase their website’s search engine optimization (SEO). This change is scheduled to occur next Thursday, September 7.
SEO is a set of techniques to make your website more visible to search engines like Google and Bing; and the more visible or highly ranked your website is to search engines, the more likely you will connect with more, new users. Read our blog post if you want to find out more about SEO and things you can do to increase your SEO using TerminalFour.
Changes coming to Technology Support and ITS websites
All content from www.seattleu.edu/support will be transferred to www.seattleu.edu/its starting on Friday, September 15th at 6pm, the current technology support website (www.seattleu.edu/support) will be removed and all content will be transferred to a redesigned www.seattleu.edu/its. All support content will still be available, but via the main ITS website (www.seattleu.edu/its). The ITS website will also be reorganized to a service catalog format to make it comprehensive and user friendly.
ACTION REQUIRED: Review your websites for links that will be impacted by these upcoming changes
IF YOU HAVE LINKS TO ALBERS
- If possible, replace your “external links” with “section links” so that these changes will be automatic and smooth for you and your users.
- If it’s not possible to use “section links,” make sure you have a plan in place to update all of your external links to the Albers websites as soon as possible after the change is made on Thu, Sep 7.
- If you have used “section links,” then you don’t need to worry! TerminalFour will update your links for you automatically when Albers’ website changes names. However, if you inserted an “external link,” then after this change occurs, your links will break and you will need to update your links in order to prevent your users from receiving 404 errors.
IF YOU HAVE LINKS TO SUPPORT or ITS
ITS wants to make sure any links on your pages to www.seattleu.edu/support or www.seattleu.edu/its will not be impacted by their website reorganization. If your website has links to any ITS content, please email Alex Stoffel (stoffela@seattleu.edu) by Tuesday, September 12th to coordinate changes.
