Consider students with disabilities when designingoff-campus experiencesor atypical class activities.
Take part in the interactive process.
Join with your department and the designated ADA administrator or Dean of your school/college in deciding whether a requested accommodation would change theessential nature or standardsof the curriculum (the ADA administrator or Dean for your school/college is listed on theSchool Contactspage).
Facilitate the resolution of issues related to the implementation of accommodations.
Review medical, psychological and/or psycho-educational reports, and identify reasonable accommodations for students.
Notify faculty regarding the accommodation needs of students.
Provide suggestions for instructional strategies appropriate to an individual student's needs.
Identify possible disabilities and refer students to community diagnosticians as appropriate.
Support the provision of accommodations through producing print material in accessible formats (Braille, audio, enlarged, Optical Character Recognized (OCR) documents).
Administer exams with accommodations for extra time in a low distraction environment, readers, word processors or scribes.
Arrange interpreters and Real Time captioning.
Match students with volunteer note takers; and other services as appropriate.
Support effective faculty/staff/student relationships.
