We must “make every effort to break down the walls that separate us, and in acknowledging our profound interconnection, build bridges that foster a culture of encounter,” Pope Francis said. “Today’s migration movements offer an opportunity for us to overcome our fears and let ourselves be enriched by the diversity of each person’s gifts.”

The Ignatian Year begins Thursday, May 20
Within the Catholic tradition there are various charisms lived out and incarnated through various religious communities. This year we join the Jesuits in celebrating the Ignatian Year. From May 2021 until July 2022, the Society of Jesus celebrates an Ignatian Year. May 20, 2021 marks the 500th anniversary of St. Ignatius’ conversion — that fateful day when Ignatius the soldier, struck by a cannonball, began his transformation into Ignatius the pilgrim.

Sign of the Times
In the face of complex long-standing issues of racial injustice, the economy, and the environment, along with the many transitions that we as a university are going through, it’s really important to keep in mind how inter-connected we are and that our lives and the choices that we make are not just our own. ICTC is pleased to offer a spring program schedule that addresses this and invites us to think about responding to these complex and often painful issues with a posture of creativity, compassion and hope, and with strategies, attitudes, and behaviors that enhance all of humanity.

As we enter the Paschal Triduum and Easter holiday, the Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture wishes you a time of reflection, hope and joy. As dark as the road may seem at times, there is always light at the end, the light and hope of the Easter promise - the Paschal mystery. May all your prayers be fulfilled and wonderful blessings be upon you and your loved ones during this special time.
"May Easter day dawn bright on you, may Easter skies be fair. May new hope spring within your heart, and peace be everywhere."
