Thank you for making Just Sustainability 2016 a success!

From August 7-August 9, CEJS welcomed 160 participants at its 2nd biennial Just Sustainability Conference at Seattle University. Just Sustainability offered an opportunity for academics and practitioners to share ideas and discuss solutions to our shared sustainability challenges. Conference attendees included faculty, staff, and students; grassroots activists and non-profit organizations; and representatives from agencies and businesses such as Skanska, EcoNorthwest, ILFI, and the E.P.A.

The conference program included 7 workshops, 12 presentation sessions, and 3 sustainability tours. Our featured speakers Brian Cladoosby, Shariff Abdullah, Jessica Finn Coven, Congressman Adam Smith, Dr. Andy Hoffman, Mckenzie Funk, and the Interfaith Amigos each highlighted their perspective on how we can work together to ensure the well-being of all people while caring for our common home.

Presenters at the conference provided us with innovative, timely, and diverse research insights, They discussed research and projects as varied as the following:

IER Publication

Presenters at the 2016 Just Sustainability conference had the opportunity to submit their paper for submission to the journal Interdisciplinary Environmental Review (IER). The special issue of IER titled "Environmental Justice and Sustainability" was published in Fall 2017. The 9 selected articles cover a varied range of topics from Just Sustainability Arts to Global Conservation and Modern Slavery.
